Planning for a new home can be an exciting, challenging and sometimes overwhelming experience. For most of us, a new home is one of the largest financial decisions we will ever make. Done properly, it can provide benefits for years to come. These benefits are measured not only in dollars and cents, but in the many things money can't buy. The perfect home reflects the priorities of your family...from a vaulted ceiling Great Room perfect for holiday celebrations to a sunlit Breakfast Area ideal for Saturday morning pancakes. Building a home can be daunting and stressful for the entire family. The purpose of this manual is to make that process as smooth and pleasurable as possible. The following work sheets, illustrations and diagrams are intended to increase your knowledge of the information and details involved in the construction process. It will assist the entire family in defining the role your home will play in your lives.

This guide is designed to assist you with planning, starting with whatever point you are at in the process. You may have already purchased your lot, or maybe you have the perfect house plan in mind, but nowhere to put it. This planning guide contains a library of existing plans and aids in designing a custom home. You will be asked to define priorities, establish needs and explore adjacencies, all of which combine to form a foundation of guidelines from which to proceed.

Several examples of the construction documents we employ are included. They contain many elements that aid in transforming your concepts into a completed home. You should know that not every document presented is used in each individual home design. Although the volume of paper may look intimidating, we are here to guide you through the decisions and choices required. Our goal is to make the entire process exciting and enjoyable. A brief introductory paragraph will precede each section. We hope this will be helpful as you consider the choices available to you.

If you are interested in designing a new home through Lasley Construction Company Custom Design Services, simply submit a completed copy of this guide along with any additional sketches or design ideas, and we will coordinate your selection of house plans from available sources, or through the services of affiliated architects.

If you already have a plan selected, submit a copy of it with the following worksheets to assist us in pricing your completed, customized home. Our experienced staff is available to assist you with changes to your existing plan and/or making finish selections.

If you haven’t chosen a lot, we have an independent real estate broker and a Keller-Williams affiliated realtor on our staff who will be happy to provide consultations and/or representation. Both have experience working with builders as well as extensive knowledge of the greater Asheville area. They can provide valuable insight regarding your preferences for location, price point, and site suitability for your desired home configuration.
